Key Takeaways
- Prioritize your preferred humor style, whether that means dry irony, fast-paced slapstick, or lighthearted romantic banter, before choosing a film.
- Check the runtime carefully because comedies can sometimes drag out a simple joke well past its expiration date.
- Look at the supporting cast list to gauge if veteran character actors are present to elevate the secondary scenes.
- Consider whether you want background viewing or a film that demands your full attention for intricate comedic timing.
- Read audience consensus regarding the third act, as many funny premises tend to lose steam before reaching the resolution.

Dane Cook and Kate Hudson lead a cast that leans heavily into uncomfortable social situations and biting humor.
It works best for viewers who appreciate abrasive comedies from the late 2000s and do not mind predictable romantic arcs. But the aggressive misogyny of the main character can wear thin if you prefer softer, more modern humor.
